THE YAMAOKAS
Husband-and-wife duo Jason and Korrie Yamaoka blend thoughtful songwriting, warm acoustic arrangements, and close vocal harmonies with the natural chemistry that comes from making music—and life—together.
Emotionally immediate, compositionally interesting
Based in Carlsbad, California, Jason and Korrie have been performing together for more than two decades, developing a sound that blends melodic singer-songwriter with acoustic folk and jazz influences. Their performances move easily between original songs and thoughtfully reimagined covers, with Jason’s understated, emotive vocals and guitar and Korrie’s expressive voice and piano.
At the heart of The Yamaokas is the interplay between two distinct musicians who know each other exceptionally well: sometimes tender, sometimes playful, and never overly polished. Their shows feel less like a performance at an audience and more like being invited into the room with them.
Simon and Garfunkel meets Chip & Joanna Gaines
Together and through their various musical projects, the Yamaokas have performed throughout Southern California, including the San Diego Botanic Garden’s Summer Nights series, Solterra Winery in Leucadia, and The Old Globe, while maintaining regular appearances at intimate venues around North County San Diego. Jason is also a John Lennon International Songwriting Contest Grand Prize winner.
Whether performing as an acoustic duo or joined by longtime collaborator Davy Rockett as The Yamaokas & Co., the focus remains the same: honest songs, strong melodies, close harmonies, and a genuine connection with the people in the room.
